You feel like you're really getting to know them and understand how they change throughout the course of the book, and, of course, it pulls in the culture of voodoo that's ingrained in Louisiana deeper than anything. The characters, like Alex, Robert and Mitch, are interesting and complex enough to be real people. This is an intriguing book, full of plenty of action and a whole lot more.
